How do Silicone Scar Sheets work?

Silicone Scar Sheets mimic the natural barrier function of healthy skin, diminishing scars both old and , and restoring skin to a more natural texture and color. Research suggests that silicone hydrates scar tissue, softening the scar, reducing its development and causing it to fade away. Silicone Scar Sheets also protect the delicate scar area and help relieve the itching, burning and pain that can accompany scars.

Silicone Scar Sheets are breathable, flexible, and durable and are used by plastic surgeons, hospitals, clinics and burn centers around the world.

What types of scars can be treated?

Silicone Scar Sheets work on hypertrophic scars and keloids, which have a raised and discolored appearance and are usually stiffer than the surrounding skin. These types of scars may result from surgical procedures, skin injuries and burns. Hypertrophic scars remain within the boundaries of the original injury, while keloids extend beyond the original injury site, involving the surrounding skin. Both types of scars are often tender, itchy, and even painful, and depending on their location can impact mobility.

Silicone Scar Sheets are effective on old as well as recent scars and help to soften, fade, reduce and smooth so the scar appears closer to your skin’s natural color and texture.
