Ferrograd Prolonged Release Tablets
A 325mg Ferrous Sulphate iron supplement used to prevent and treat iron-deficiency anaemia in both men and women. Iron is a crucial element for the human body to produce normal red blood cells. This special formulation with an inert porous matrix allows iron to be released gradually and help reduce stomach irritation that commonly occurs with iron supplements.
Prevents iron deficiency anaemia.
Recommended adult dose:
One tablet daily, before food or as directed by doctor.
- Not suitable for children under 12 years of age.
- These are not suitable if you are pregnant since they do not contain folic acid.
Do not exceed the stated dose.
Always read the enclosed patient leaflet.
Do not take Ferrograd Tablets if you:
Know you have anaemia due to a vitamin B12 deficiency as this requires a different treatment.
Have an intestinal blockage.
Have been told by a doctor that you have a disease of the bowels known as diverticular disease.
Suffer from a rare inherited problem involving the way your blood cells use iron known as haemochromatosis or haemosiderosis.
Are receiving repeated blood transfusions.
Are already being treated with iron injections.
Are already taking medicines containing iron.
Each tablet contains: Dried Ferrous Sulphate BP 325mg in a controlled release Gradumet, equivalent to 105mg elemental iron.
Dye Red Ponceau 4R Lake (E124) and Propylene Glycol.
As with all medicines keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not take more tablets than recommended above. If you ever take too many go to the nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately. Take the container and any remaining tablets with you to show to the doctor.
This medicine sometimes causes unwanted effects in some people. These effects may include constipation, diarrhoea, stomach upset and pain with feeling sick. Your stools may be coloured black. If you are concerned about any of these effects or get any other unusual effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Please do not be worried. Most people taking this medicine will not experience any problems.
